THE SOURCE:
O - a novel by anna nimm, is a 140,000-word unpublished manuscript that serves as the narrative wellspring of the Water Way cinematic and interactive universe. Narrated by Océane (O) from the end of the 21st century, the story set in the recent past and near future documents the lead-up to the Syzygy—a massive solar event that triggers a global hard-reset. Praised as “a queer coming-of-age novel that blends personal transformation with a bold vision of hydrologic justice,” the narrative tracks the life and love of O as she transforms from an heiress and teenaged surfing sensation to one of the architects of a wet-reboot for the planet.THE FRICTION:
As O describes the early days of the Water Way to her algorithmic companion 🌊 (Wave), she confronts the irony of her own origins. This is a journey of emotional meltdowns and life-changing accidents, where O must navigate a collision between her family’s legacy and her own survival. The conflict is no longer just between classes, but between systems and world views: a charismatic eco-activist’s vision vs. a would-be water messiah’s cult, and the violent friction that occurs when efforts to rebalance wealth are met by state-level surveillance and authoritarian force. We witness the birth of the Water Way, evolving from a do-gooder charity project into a high-stakes secession from a dying status quo, building a global network of resilient communities—Friends of Flow—before the grid goes dark.
THE ARCHITECTURE:
Envisioned initially as an eight part premium series that expands the novel's core into a global map, the production overflows with creative opportunities for a cadre of collaborative writers, actors and directors to further flesh out the world-building of the Water Way.The visual storytelling through live action and animation will explore how personal meltdowns lead to Water Circles, how schemes and dreams of a more loving, survivable future ripple across the globe toward a fledgling “Eautopia” (pronounced O-topia), midstream between the deluded dream of utopia and familiar nightmare of dystopia.BATHTUB & BEYOND:
The series is anchored by intimate Bathtub Conversations between O and her first lover and overshadowed by the Syzygy, the alignment of social and environmental calamities that a Coronal Mass Ejection push over the edge.We follow O and her friends and family from the peaks and valleys of the Colorado Plateau to the salmon-streams of Kamchatka, from the thermal spas of Budapest to the warm Tahitian waves, witnessing as individuals and groups realize we are all in the same boat and in an “all hands on deck” situation that is as much about spiritual healing as it is about technical survival

THE PHILOSOPHY:
Forget traditional gaming. This is a full-tilt Collective Intelligence Simulation: immersive, intelligent, engaging. If the Syzygy is the end-of-the-world-as-we-know-it storm, the Simulation is the training manual for the lifeboat of New Arks and Water Circles, of personal responsibility and collective impact, of loving ourselves and our neighbors.THE PLAY:
- Levels of Flow: Instead of fighting bad guys, players progress by successfully forming Water Circles moving from "Self-Healing" to "Community Resilience" to "Watershed Restoration" to “Hydrospheric Healing”.-Real-World Tether: The goal is to bridge the virtual and the physical. High-scoring virtual simulations provide blueprints for real-world Eautopian projects.-The Syzygy Event: Mid-way through the experience, the "old-world" tech is stripped away. Players must rely on the Wave interface and their local circles to navigate the disruption.- The Eautopian Goal: The "Win State" is not total power; it is total participation. It is the realization that in a hydrologic world, there is no "away"—we are all downstream, all entangled together, all in the same boat.
